Tekfen to build its third platform in Azerbaijan

The Azfen-Tekfen-AMEC (ATA) consortium won a new oil platform tender for the West Chirag deep-sea oil concession platform.

The project value of this new platform, which will be constructed for BP Exploration under capacity hike investments, is $335 million, of which Tekfen Construction's share is $163 million.

The platform's construction, erection, testing and start-up work onshore will be conducted at Tekfen's Bayil Steel Fabrication Plant, 7kms from Baku. This 18,500-ton platform, complete with an oil extraction unit, technical assistance units, and accommodation facilities, will be the third and largest platform Tekfen has constructed in Azerbaijan.

Starting in July 2010, the project will last 3 years and will provide new job opportunity for a thousand employees
